A Tale of Woe From China

A young traveler visiting China has sent his experience thus far in China while remembering home. He was served his breakfast much like back home and had a bath which he explained as being colder than he was used to, a sign he was missing home. He explains to us a rash he has gotten. He says it to be a copper color, and it has spread from neck to chest then to his arms, ankles, and his back.  He has the terrible ‘prickly heat’ of the tropics, which feels like pins, needles, and stinging-nettles. He says it is bad enough in itself, but it is unbelievable when he is congratulated upon having it for now he cannot get anything else while he has this. Back home he would not be congratulated for having an illness, but he would be treated for such ailments.
